The Physician Assistant Advisory Committee
A sub-committee
of the MBP
is the Physician Assistant Advisory Committee which advises the Board on
Physician Assistant matters. The PAAC
consists of 7 members appointed by the Board, of which: three are licensed
physicians, one specializing in surgery and one in primary care, three are
certified physician assistants, either practicing or teaching in the State
of Maryland, and one a consumer, selected by the Secretary of the Department
of Health and Mental Hygiene. The PAs will be selected by the Board from
a list of names submitted by; the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants,
and the State institutions of higher education with approved physician assistant
programs. The Committee may elect its own Chair. The Committee members may
serve a maximum of two consecutive three year terms. The
Committee may report to the Board any conduct of a supervising physician or a
physician assistant that may be cause for disciplinary action, and any alleged
unauthorized practice of a physician assistant. The Committee reviews individual
job description applications, may interview the applicants and their supervising
physicians and recommends approval or rejection to the Board. The PAAC
generally meets at the MBP
on the first Wednesday of every month at 4:00 PM. See theThe current PAAC:
